Are you thinking of using iPods or iPads in your classroom? Do you want to know what the best Apps are for students to practice Chinese are? Join us as we explore ways hand-held learning can be integrated into the Chinese language classroom.

What is Chinese Teachers Connect?

For a long time now I have been thinking of ways we can harness technology to connect teachers of Chinese from around the world. We can all learn from each other, so why not use technology to connect us together?

It’s great to get together with teachers of Chinese at Conferences and workshops, but in this age of digital tools, we can meet online and share our experiences teaching Chinese.

Skype is a free tool that can be easily downloaded onto your computer. Download Skype for free.

Any teacher of Chinese or person interested in learning more about Chinese, can register for a session.

The online Skype sessions are usually held every second Sunday - (US PST 11am) and (UK time - 7pm)

NEXT SESSION : Sunday, January 22nd – Using Apps to enhance the learning of Chinese

Are you thinking of using iPods or iPads in your classroom? Do you want to know what the best Apps for students to practice Chinese are? Join us as we explore ways hand-held learning can be integrated into the Chinese language classroom.

1. Download the free Skype software onto your computer.  (www.skype.com)
2. Open the Skype program on your computer and create your own Skype ID name.
3. Send me an email to say you want to attend the session. Email me here.
4. I will then add you to my Skype contacts.
3. On the day of the session, just click the Skype icon on your computer.

10 people can attend a session at once. Please email to register. If more than 10 people register, I will add your name to the waiting list.

The sessions are free for all teachers of Chinese.

Using Skype, on the day of the session all participants log into Skype and are added to the session via their computer.

I will welcome all teachers and give you an outline of the day's session.

I will share my computer screen allowing you to see the presentation, and there will be time allocated to discuss issues related to practical classroom applications.

I will also enable you to download any handouts and worksheets that are mentioned in the session.

Yes. Teachers are asked to email any sessions that they may find useful for teaching in the Classroom. Sessions are always focused on practical classroom applications, so teachers can suggest topics for future sessions.

If you want to ask questions or discuss what is covered in the session, then that is ok as well.

Just register and show up....Your participation is just being there.
